I have a large oak shelf that holds the projector and several other pieces of gear mounted about 8 feet high in a cathedral ceiling area. It points to a 8 foot screen about 14 feet away. The top of the screen is also about 8 feet high. I also bought a ceiling mount, as I was expecting the need to mount the projector upside down as was necessary with my previous 2 year old home theater projector. With this unit I just set it on the shelf right side up and shifted the image into perfect position in a few seconds. Zoom, focus and image position were a snap to set.

The quietness of this projector alone makes its size tolerable. I’m quite pleased with the projector. I look forward to a Polaroid 3D version of this projector

My old sharp xr-10x finally gave way after 6 years of good service. I started researching different 1080p projectors through numerous websites and had my choice narrowed down to 3 (epson 8350, optoma hd20, and viewsonic pro8200). Based on my budget I went with the viewsonic pro. I’m projecting onto a 130″ screen from a distance roughly of 14 feet 10 inches.
I have played 4 movies on this projector so far and the picture is fantastic. It was very easy to adjust the picture to the screen size (120″)and very easy to set up. This is the first projector I purchased and I did alot of reserch before I picked this one. All the reviews I read picked this projector for the price and I am glad I picked this one too.If you want a great value and product this is the one.

I felt that the above option to get it repaired was too time consuming and not very practical. I appealed my case, explaining that I really had only had 2 years and 3 months use out of this device that cost me $ 1900 and that this was not really a normal wear and tear issue. Bottom line is that’ although everybody was polite and understanding, I got nowhere but was offered an option to buy a $ 1500 replacement under thier “loyalty program”. Again this made no sence to me to invest a total of $ 3400 to have a working projector after just 2.5 years.

I have been a projector fan for about 5 years now. My first on was an old Sony CRT that weighed about 150 lbs. Nothing could beat it’s quality at a low price, until this projector. I’ve had the Epson 8350 for a few weeks now and have been so impressed with the quality of both the machine itself and the image it projects. The various color and light modes are plentiful, ranging from Dynamic for bright rooms to Cinema, perfect for light-controlled spaces.
You no longer need the budget of Steven Spielberg to equip a home cinema with crystal sharp projected images. This machine, out of the box, delivers excellent quality 1080p motion picture images. At a throw of about 10 feet, you can fill an eight-foot wide screen. Darken the room and lower the bulb’s output to save on it’s expected life and you will swear you are watching a movie at the local multiplex (assuming you have Bluray and a modest sound system. This machine is well worth $ 4,000, but now available at around $ 1200, it’s worth every penny. Treat yourself.
I’m sure Epson is aware of the high fail rate of the bulbs that ship with units, the mark of good service is correcting a problem when they inevitably happen, rather than pass it off to the consumer like 99% of manufacturers. Good on you, Epson

How much for a total Home Theater
We are setting up a home theater system at home and i have a question about the audio… The projector will be recieving the video via HDMI and i was wondering if the dvd player or whatever device will allow me to have the audio coming out through seperate component cables or if it will send all audio and video through the HDMI cable…. I know this is worded terribly but i hope someone understands the question that i am asking.
Example setup…. Cable Box-Video=HDMI to Projector + Cable Box-Audio=Components to sound system
OKAY———- I think i figured out my best option……
Since Im going for 7.1 surround sound If I pick up a 7.1 ss Audio Video Reciever I can take the HDMI Straight from the cable box or dvd player to the reciever giving me my audio and this would have an output to send the video to the projector.

Hope This Helps,
Richard
And one more thing…There are no “7.1″ recordings…The best a DVD can give us is “6.1″…More specifically, you only need ONE center rear speaker…Save your money.
