I have this projector hooked up to a blu-ray player via HDMI. It’s ceiling mounted in a family room.

I am stunned by this projector. I didn’t know having anything this nice was possible on a moderate income and this item continues to surprise. Today, for example, I was finishing up installing my surround sound system and I turned on the projector so that I could see the menu on my PS3 and play a movie to test the speakers. Expecting a barely visible picture, I was surprised that at 3 o’clock in the afternoon, with ample sunlight flooding the room, the picture from the projector still looked just as good as it does at 8 PM and I watched the last 30 minutes of Kick Ass, for the second time in 24 hours, almost as if I was in a trance. How good is the picture? I have a 50′ 1080p plasma television and this projector is the preferred 120′ version. Everything from 500 Days of Summer, to IP Man, or Scott Pilgrim, feels like a theater experience (with Blurays, have not watched a DVD yet). I have watched other projectors over at friends’ houses and I really thought the picture got blurry, especially with action sequences, not the case here (IP Man’s fists never lost their focus).
This is the mount I used: Atdec TH-WH-PJ-FM Telehook Universal Projector Flush Mount
I also bought it from Projector people who recommended it. Excellent company and great service.

I live in Japan and the same type by Epson (different numbering~) costs roughly $ 2800 dollars (240,000 yen~). I purchased this projector in the USA via Amazon at $ 1200 (100,000 yen~) and brought it home with me.
When the unit arrived my first impression was that it was big.It is much larger than the usual multimedia projectors around and I wondered if I would need to have this lug sitting on my coffee table to the annoyance of my better half
I bought this last month in June 2011. It was a lot bulkier than the Infocus entry level projector I was used to. But the picture is amazinly great. High speed action movies are rendered very well without any distortion of color or clarity.
Wow. That’s really all I can say. Wow. I’m not a rich man, I’ve been reviewing projectors for about two years now. I’ve had my eye on the Epson 8350 for about 12 months. Just recently I came into a bit of extra cash and almost purchased the Epson 8700ub instead (I figured more money must equal a better projector). I was probably right, but in the end I decided to save myself $ 800 and stick with my plan of purchasing the 8350. When I brought it home plugged it in and shot it at the wall I knew I made the right decision. It is beautiful. Crisp clear HD images right on my wall. Even in the daytime with ambient light the image is passable and better than any TV from 4 or 5 years ago. When the sun starts going down (and definitely when its night) the image is more vibrant and crisp than the 32″ 1080p Vizio that I replaced with this projector. This is the best item I’ve purchased in quite a long time.
I’ve had this projector for several months now and it has performed flawlessly.

The problems I do have with this projector is the size it’s huge and as all lcd’s has problems when watching fast moving sports. It also is not 3d compatible.
New projector, NEW DVD player. Bought a HDMI – D-SUB cable to go from DVD Player (Sigmatek XS-700) into my Projector (Benq MP611C). I get no display. Manual says:
PROJECTOR MANUAL STATES: If you connect the projector to a High Definition TV (HDTV) tuner, the following standards
are supported: 420i/p , 780i/p, 1080i
DVD PLAYER SETUP STATES: HDMI Setup show supported: 420i/p , 780i/p, 1080i
If i go from DVD player (Sigmatek XS-700) to projector via [COMPONENT to D-SUB] – Works fine and displays 420i/p – good picture.
I have plugged in from Laptop at 800X600 and works fine, great picture. (DSUB to DSUB Connector Cable)
Svideo and composite all work fine with no problems both from the DVD player and to the projector. Its all new brand new kit.
My problem is: when i plug HDMI Cable to DSUB between DVD Player and Projector I get no signal at all. Yet any other cable works fine. What am i doing wrong???? PLEASE HELP – AT WITS END

Solution: Take the projector back and get one that has an HDMI or HDCP compatible DVI input. The BenQ W500 does and is meant more for home theater. Or just stick with component to D-Sub.
